On Wednesday June 11th 2014, after an extended illness, Les Crisp passed on surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Meigs County. Part of his childhood was spent in Athens McMinn County, Tennessee. He attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee during his college years. Les reached the Masters Degree level and went on to teach school and become a Principal at Sycamore Elementary School in Cookeville for a short while. During the 1970s he was on the Tennessee State Governors Council Board. He is survived by his daughter Kara Crisp Scott, grandchildren Gavin Scott, Damon, Page, Ethan, Quinton, and Kaden Bradshaw, also great grandson Gabriel Bradshaw. He is also survived by two sisters Polly and Iva, and a younger brother Alvin Crisp. Lester was preceded in death by his parents Luke and Glennie Swafford Crisp, two brothers JM and Eddie Crisp, a sister Willie, and his oldest daughter Leslie Susan Crisp Bradshaw. Les donated his body to scientific research to the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
