Immigrated to the United States in 1904. He farmed with his father near Forbes, ND and operated one of the steam operated threshing machines in North Dakota. He moved to Aberdeen in 1942.
Married Mildred M Grapes on June 30, 1946 at Aberdeen. He wroked at Nicholl Cash Supply, Farmers Union Exchange and retired from the postoffice in 1962.
Survivors: his widow; five daughters, Mrs Robert (Wilma) Luce, Ipswich; Mrs Gilbert (Gwendolyn) Gale Jr, Mrs Marlin (Phyllis) Bitz, Mrs Thomas (Marie) Bretsch and Janice, all of Aberdeen; three brothers, Carl, Richard and Oscar, all of Felton, Minn; one sister, Mrs Wales (Anna) Bleeker-Cotton, Aberdeen; and one grandchild
