"JoAnn Wagner passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore.

She was born in Charleston, WV, in 1928. Her family relocated to Ottawa, IL, in 1937 where JoAnn was a member of the Eastern Star and an Honored Queen of Job's Daughters. At a church softball game she met Bob, her husband of 63 years. The couple moved to Peoria, IL, in 1947 so Bob could attend Bradley University. It was there that their four children, Linda, Margaret, Richard, and William were born.

A new job brought the family to the Shawnee Mission area in 1960. JoAnn worked for Capitol Federal Savings and Loan for 22 years. She was active in getting Bob elected to the District 110 school board and served as President of Rushton Elem. PTA. As a member of Countryside Christian Church, Jo participated in the CWF, worked as a deaconess, and helped oversee the Christian Education program. She loved planning the family's memorable camping trips to many of the U.S. National Parks.

After retirement, Jo and Bob volunteered at Tall Oaks Christian Camp. Upon moving to the Foxwood community she continued to be involved in many activities. They also enjoyed trips and cruises with good friends from the 110 group. Genealogy became a passion for Jo and this interest led to her admission into the Daughters of the American Revolutions as well as the discovery of new family members.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and son, William. She is survived by her husband, Bob, children Linda (John) Coxon, Margaret, Richard (Peg), daughter-in-law Susan, 6 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Jo's memory.

A visitation will be at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park at 9:00 a.m. on Tues. February 8, 2011, with a memorial service to follow at 9:45 a.m. Interment will take place in Johnson County Memorial Gardens."
