On July 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Nola Rhine in Gideon.
Survivors include his wife, Nola Gilkey of Gideon; five daughters, Jan Parker, Paula Miller, Tammy Joyner, and Sarah Beck, all of Gideon, and Sheila Polk of Sheridan, Ark.; two brothers, Virgil "Bub" Gilkey of Dexter and James Gilkey of Byhalia, Miss.; one sister, Earlene Toole of Gideon; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Allen and Evelyn Gilkey; and two brothers, Eugene Gilkey and Charles Gilkey.
Visitation was held after 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Gideon with Rev. Bruce Vinson officiating.
Interment will follow in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
