Marvin E. Schnabel, 84, died in his home in Anaconda on July 1, surrounded by his family.


He was born on April 23, 1930, in Kulm, N.D., to August and Lydia (Frank) Schnabel.


Marvin served in Korea with the United States Army before moving to Montana and meeting his wife of 61 years, Alice (LaTray).


In 1983, after 31 years, he retired from the Anaconda Company. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 40 years.


Marvin and Alice loved to spend the winters in Arizona and traveling to Florida to visit their daughter and family.


Marvin is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters Linda (Gene) Posivio, Betty Dunn and Terri (the Rev. Bill) Jenkin; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three brothers Rueben, Mel and John; and a sister, Arleen (Windy) Windedahl.


Marvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Kay Schnabel; grandson, Clifford Marvin Jenkin; great grand-daughter, Isabel Grace Jenkin; son-in-law, Martin R. Dunn, as well as his parents, two brothers and two sisters.


A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, followed by Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors.
