VOS, VAN HAAFTEN, HOKSBERGEN

Funeral services for Minnie M. Vos, 93, of Pella were held Saturday, February 15 at the Third Reformed Church Chapel in Pella, the Rev. Robert Schuring officiated. Music was provided by organist Lena Vandenberg and hymn leaders, Marvin and Marjorie Van Haaften.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were "nephews"-Merle Dieleman, Marion Van Haaften, Ronald Dieleman, Marvin L. Van Haaften, Irvin Van Haaften and Allen Van Haaften.

Wilhelmina Maria Van Haaften was born on November 29, 1909, in the Sandridge vicinity north of Pella. She was the seventh child born to Marinus A. and Mary (Hoksbergen) Van Haaften. Minnie attended the Sandridge country school, graduating from the eighth grade.

On February 24, 1932, she was united in marriage with John G. Vos at Sully. To this union two children were born: Marilyn Ruth and Murray Lee. John and Minnie farmed east of Pella until John was killed in a truck accident in 1940.

Following his death, Minnie and her children moved into Pella to 1216 Broadway where she lived for 52 years. She was a seamstress; sewing and altering clothes for many of the Pella residents. Minnie also enjoyed writing poems and family history.

In May of 1993 she became a resident of the Pella Nursing Home. Minnie made Profession of Faith at the Third Reformed Church in Pella where she was a faithful member until her health failed. She was a member of the Mary and Martha Society for many years. Minnie passed away at Pella Regional Health Center's Sheltered Care Unit on February 11.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn and her husband, Howard Duinink, of Otley, and their family: Clint L. Duinink and his daughter Staci Marie Duinink, of Otley; Cindy Lu Duncan and her husband Gary, of Otley; a daughter-in-law, Johanna (Van Zee) Vos, and her family: Sherri Lynn Molka and her husband, Frank and their daughter Katey Mae of Des Moines; Vicki Ann Budding, her husband Brant, and their daughter, Jacklyn Budding of Des Moines; a sister, Emma and her husband Elmer Dieleman of Pella; and a sister-in-law, Margaret (Mrs. Louis) Van Haaften of Pella.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Vos in 1940; a grandson, Michael Dale Vos in 1961; her son, Murray Vos in 1999; a sister, Josie (Mrs. Dick) Groenendyk; and five brothers, Louis, Arie, Roy, Henry, and Lester Van Haaften.

Arrangements were handled by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials may be made to the Third Reformed Church Building Fund or the Pella Regional Health Center-Sheltered Care.
