Dorcas Louise (Butler) Stevenson was born in the Butler community near Grove, OK, on November 13, 1922, to Jimmy and Mae (Roberts) Butler. She was the youngest child and only daughter.

Her parents and brothers, John E. and Elmo Butler preceded her in death. On August 15, 1938, she married John W. Stevenson, accompanied by Floyd and Ella Mae (Drake) Fields, in Pineville, MO. To this union three children were born: Bonnie JoAnn Lemeley (Joe) of Broken Arrow, OK; Marty Hamilton (Zack) of Grove, OK and John W. Stevenson (Becky) of Jay, OK; Tresa Hanes of Stilwell, OK and Jim Stevenson of Hot Springs, AR. Great grandchildren include Lauren Webb of Broken Arrow, Natalie Stevenson, Kelsey Stevenson & Nikki Hanes of Stilwell, OK; Courtney and Jessica Hamilton of Grove, OK. Two great great granddaugthers, Allie Stevenson of Stilwell, OK and Preslee Webb of Broken Arrow, OK. One grandson, Mac Stevenson, preceded her in death in 2012. Her husband, J. W. Stevenson also preceded her in death in 1999.

She was a lifetime resident of Delaware County, and she and JW made their home and raised their family in the Peters Prairie community between Grove, OK and Southwest City, MO. She was a member of the Independent Baptist church in Grove and was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and Women's Tsa-La-Gi Indian Club. She loved pretty flowers in a pretty yard, loved being with family members (especially the grandkids), family reunions and the Grove area. she was loved very much by all family members and will be missed each day by the loved ones left behind.

Visitation will be held at Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK, on Monday, July 7th from 6 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 2 pm at the Grove Independent Baptist Church. Interment will be at Polson Cemetery west of Southwest City, MO.
