Rebecca R. Lunsford, 85, a longtime area resident passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Seneca Home Place in Seneca, Missouri. She was born on December 28, 1928 in Miami to Orville and Cynthia (Ragsdale) Dowty. She married William Lunsford Sr. in 1947, they spent many years together in the the ministry, pastoring at church in Trease, Kansas, Vinita and the Afton Holiness Church. Mrs. Lunsford was a principal for a Christian school also. She loved to sew and made clothes for the kids growing up; she gardened and therefore did a lot of canning and was Mr. Lunsford's number one farm hand and would bale hay with the best of them. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband William Lunsford in 2010, her parents and her seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son William L. Jr. and his wife Karen of Fairland, Oklahoma Patricia C. and her husband Kenny of Texas, Jeanne C. and her husband Don of Miami, Susie H. and her husband Dennis of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, one brother Irvin D. of Reno, Nevada, her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
