Matthew R. Olson, age 60, of Mitchell, SD, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral service will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 8th at the Blom Prairie Lutheran Brethern Church in Toronto, SD with Pastor Darren Shaw officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Hansonville Cemetery near Hendricks, MN.

A memorial service will be held at the County Fair Banquet Hall in Mitchell, SD at 7:00pm on Monday, July 7th.
Matthew Rolo Olson was born on August 26, 1953 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to parents Johannes and Evelyn (Fryman) Olson who baptized and confirmed him into the Christian Faith. Matthew graduated from Elmore High School in Elmore, Minnesota in 1971. He went on to obtain an education in baking from the Vocational School in Mankato, Minnesota in 1972.
Matthew married the love of his life, Deb Coners on March 25, 1973. They made their homes in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan along with their current residence in Mitchell, South Dakota. Matthew was master baker for forty-two years, the last twelve of which were spent at County Fair Foods in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Matthew loved riding motorcycle and taking cycle trips with family and friends. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, reading, baking, the Packers, movies, camping and the Packers. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his five children and twelve grandchildren. Matthew was especially looking forward to the arrival of his first great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deb Olson of Mitchell, SD; four daughters: Jennifer (Fabian) Malatare, Cheri (Steve) Allamand, Stephanie Olson and significant other Kenny Arbuckle, Brandi (Dan) Morgan; one son, Chad Olson; twelve grandchildren: River, Shania, Alexi, Zach, Noah, Austin, Bryce, Gavin, Treygan, Kiegan, Trase and Paytience; three brother; two sisters and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, three nephews, one sister and one brother-in-law.
