FRANCIS DUNEGAN DEAD
Francis Dunegan was born in Mercer County, Ohio, March 16, 1817. His parents moved to Noble County, Indiana, while he was an infant. The family made the fifth white family in all the county. He united with the church in 1843 and maintained a Christian to the end. He was married Feb. 23, 1843 to Catherine Boughman. Four children were born to this union, one, Andrew, survives.
He enlisted March 4, 1862 and was sent to the army of the west. He was transferred in April to Co. E. 6th Iowa Cavalry and served under Sully against the Sioux Indians. After more than 3 years of service he was mustered out at Sioux City Nov. 9, 1865.
He was married the second time, June 5, 1873 to Mrs. Marion Barnett. He was confined to his home from June lst to the day of his death which occurred on Jan. 11. He was an honored member of Hanscom Post, G.A.R., No. 97. The post attended in a body. The funeral was preached by Dr. Hilton at the M.E. Church of which deceased was a member.
Francis is buried in Part 3, Lot 71.
