Sharon was born May 17, 1942 at home in Galena, KS to William and Mary Alice (Bramwell) Cox. She was the youngest of six children and lived in Galena nearly her whole life;. She attended Galena schools, graduating from Galena High School in 1960.
Sharon married James Charles September 1, 1961. They were married for 51 years. He preceded her in death Aug 28, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Francine Cox Price, Bill Cox, Robert Cox, Alyene Cox Sargent and John Cox.
Her survivors include two daughters, Debra Charles Radigan and Lisa Charles LaTurner, two sons, James Michael Charles, and Jerry Charles, four grandsons, Eric LaTurner, Mark Alan LaTurner, Jacob LaTurner, and Michael LaTurner, seven granddaughters, Leslie LaTurner Webster, Jenifer LaTurner Watkins, Cheyenne Radigan, Johnna Radigan, Summer Radigan, Amanda Charles and Kendra Charles’ nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Sharon was an active member of the community. She worked her whole life, was an excellent cook, and gardener, and did not like to be idle. She loved nothing more than to spend time with family and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and is tremendously missed.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, July 11, 2014 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS Pastor Jeff D Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
The family will receive friends form 6:00 -7:00 pm Thursday, July 10 2014 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
Her husband's "Jim" ashes will be buried with her.
