Horace Martin was the son of Elisha and Delight Nichols Martin. He married Emma Martin, daughter of James D. and Delilah Campbell Smith in 1874 in Nebraska. Horace and Emma had 5 known children: Ernest, Charles, Lita, Ross and Lawrence. After Emma died in 1896, Horace married Phoebe Jubb Gray, a second marriage for both. They lived in McPherson County until his death in 1913.
