Daily National Intelligencer (Washington, DC), Tuesday, July 27, 1858: "Departed this life, on Saturday, July 3d, after a long and painful illness, Mrs. SUSAN R. PAGE, relict of the late Dr. R. P. PAGE, of 'The Briars,' Clarke co., Va. In the death of this excellent lady, the community has lost one of its most valued members; the devoted mother; the fondly attached sister; the faithful friend; the kind and gentle mistress; the exemplary follower of Him who went about doing good; surely, then, none can blame, but many will sympathize when we tell how greatly we have been blessed and how sorely we are now bereaved. Mrs. Page was an humble and consistent Christian, and for many years a communicant in the Episcopal church; a lady of the most unassuming delicacy of manners, but possessed of mental vigor and accuracy of judgment rarely equaled in her sex. Her hospitable door was ever open, and from it 'the poor were never turned empty away.' To her orphan girls and only boy is left the memory of her virtues and the hope of meeting her again. 'Her life was as a morsel of frankincense, burning in the hall of Eternity. It is gone, but its odorous cloud surleth to the lofty roof.' A Friend."

Boston Post (Boston, MA), Thursday, July 15, 1858 and The Times-Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Saturday, July 17, 1858: "Mrs. Susan Page, the wealthiest person in Clarke county, Va., died on the 3d instant."
