Following is an edited obituary extract from the Greensboro Daily News, February 28, 1938:
WIFE OF LATE PROFESSOR WILKINSON SUCCUMBS AT HOME OF DAUGHTER HERE - FUNERAL TODAY.
Mrs. Nannie Ella Wilkinson, 84,native of Gaston county, who for the last 17 years had been a well known resident of Greensboro, died at 1;45 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. P. B. Barber, with whom she made her home following an extended illness. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, High Point.
Mrs. Wilkinson was the wife of the late prof. J.A. Wilkinson, who was a leader in education circles in Lincoln county a number of years. She had many friends in Greensboro and elsewhere.
Surviving Mrs. Wilkinson are two daughters, Mrs. P.B. Barber and Mrs. Thomas Butler, of High Point; two brothers F.D. Wilkinson of Greensboro, and J.F. Wilkinson of Marion; a sister, Mrs. Eunice Nims of Mt. Holly; 21 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
