Ruth Marie Fenne was a direct descendant of John and Betty More's Jonas line. She was the third of eight children born to Eric Selmer Fenne and Mary Mallory Fenne. Ruth was raised at Bruton, Virginia where her father was the owner and operator of Creamland Dairy. The family relocated to Mechanicsville, Virginia about 1943 when the United States Navy procured her father's land for use as a Seabee Training Base. Ruth was a Singer Sewing instructor when she married to John Robert Owen on 17 January 1953 at Richmond, Virginia. Ruth and Robert were the parents of two children, a son and a daughter. Ruth Marie Fenne Owen, 89, of Howertons, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. She was born on December 19, 1929 in York County, VA. She was a retired employee of H. Warshow and Sons and worked in the quality control lab. She loved sewing, cooking, reading, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Owen, Sr.; parents, Eric and Mary Fenne; four brothers, Irwin, Robert, John, and Thomas Fenne; sister, Martha Fenne.
She is survived by her children, John Robert Owen, Jr. and Mary Jo (Larry) Owen Taylor; special granddaughter, Jessica Marie Taylor; sisters, Cora Mowatt and Dorothy (Gerald) Bosher; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, VA. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Essex Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Brizendine, Rick Gillespie, Bob Fenne, Carlton Wood, Mark Scott, and Eddie Taylor. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org)
