GALVESTON — Rosie L. Reed, 86, received her reward eternal rest on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Turner Geriatric Center.
Rosie was born on October 24, 1921, in Houston, Texas to Philip and Georgia Patterson Ryan. She later moved to Galveston where she met and married the late Lawrence Blanks, Sr. and to this union two children were born. She later married the late Terrell Reed. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves to cherish memories her son Lawrence Blanks, Jr. (Mary); daughters, Margarett Blanks; Gloria Jean Blanks; Mildred Collins, and Gloria L. Reed; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joshua, Sr., Eric, Troy, Tracy, Lawrence, and Shawn Blanks; Darrell, Derrick, Felquisha, Frederick, Linda, Whitney, Michael, Richard, and Rachel Reed; Anita Lynn, Nathan, and Benjamin Collins; Dewayne Richardson; Joshua Blanks, Jr.; brother, Albert Johnson; sisters, Annie Johnson; Hattie Lamb; Myrtle Sellers; Margaret Williams; Sarah Daniels, and Daisy Higgins; god sister, Luvida Morgan; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2008, with a wake from 7-8 p.m., at the chapel of Fields Funeral Service under the directions of E. R. Johnson. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 29, 2008, at the St. John Baptist Church with Pastor Louis Simpson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
