SOUTHSIDE — Charles Alvin Higginbotham, 78, of Southside, passed away June 15, 2014 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born April 21, 1936, in Mason County, a son to the late Floyd Higginbotham and Grace Cornell Higginbotham. He retired from Southern States in Point Pleasant where he was a truck driver and attended the Beech Hill United Methodist Church in Southside. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Paul, Robert, Carl, Johnny and Ray Higginbotham, and sisters Cora Baird, Linda Dunn, Dorothy Clonch, Margie Sheppard, and Nellie Newell. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn Newell Higginbotham of Southside, mother-in-law Dorothy Virginia Newell of Southside, and sister Zora Rawson of Middleport, Ohio, and many friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at the Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jack Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Hill Church cemetery in Southside. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
