JOSEPH MEEKS OBITUARY

MEEKS, JOSEPH CECIL, 67, of Ashville, AL died March 23, 2005 passed away after an extended illness at his home. Funeral service will be at Usrey Chapel, Pell City on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. Burial at St. Clair Memorial Gardens, Rev. Brian Haney officiating.

He was a native of Villa Rica, GA and lived most of his life in Birmingham. He had resided in Ashville since l993. He was a member of Carpenter's Local 127 in Birmingham for 35 years where he was very active and held several offices.

He is survived by his wife, Donna B. Meeks of Ashville; 2 sons, Donald J. Meeks, Sr. of Pell City and Jeffery E Meeks of Ashville; 3 brothers, Harold Meeks, Villa Rica, GA, Hubert Meeks of Panama City, FL, and Hugh Meeks of Ranburne, AL; 4 grandchildren: Donald J. Meeks, Jr., Joshua A. Meeks, Andrew J. Meeks, Aaron M. Meeks.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Meeks, Grady Meeks, Steve Meeks, Joshua Meeks, Mike Meeks, Jeff Meeks, Joseph Meeks and Winton Meeks; honorary pallbearers are Aaron Meeks and Ralph Meeks.

JC Meeks passed peacefully at home on March 23, 2005.
Harold, Jeanette and Connie had just visited with them at their home...they got a call on the way home that he had passed away. I recall when he lived in Villa Rica, GA...he worked at Carroll Creamery and lived in the home on 2 acres beside his brother Harold on Flat Rock Road.

He was a Veteran and served in the US Army, in the Infantry.

He was married to Martha Allred August 14, 1959 and they had two sons. They divorced January 31, 1985.

He met Donna V. Battles at the Carpenters Local 127 in Birmingham. the daughter of Elsie Mae Wamble and Harvis Owens Battles, the two were married on July 1, 1990 at his home on Debbie Drive, in Birmingham.
