David Bryan Allison passed away on Tuesday, July, 2, 2014. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:0 0am Wednesday, July 9, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station, Rev. Dr. George Klett and Rev. Ted Foote officiating. An inurnment ceremony will be held at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
Bryan was born September 10, 1932, in Farmerville, TX. He joined the US Coast Guard in 1950, and served on the USCG Cutter Cartigan, earning the rank of Radioman 2. After his discharge in 1953, he married the love of his life, Jean Batchelor. He attended the University of Houston, earning BS and MS degrees in geology. He began his teaching career with the Spring Branch ISD as a math instructor, and retired as principal of Spring Forest Jr. High in 1990. After retirement he and Jean lived in their home on the San Bernard River. They moved to College Station in 2000 and became active members with the Pebble Creek CC. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time with his family and friends. Brya was a Master Mason with S.P. Waltrip Lodge 1328.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Mildred Allison, sister Anita Bayless, and niece Valerie MacPherson. He is survived by his wife Jean Allison of College Station; his daughter Ann Allison and partner Kathy Cote of Knoxville, TN; son Randal Allison and wife Terri of College Station; grandchildren Kristen Bullock and husband Gene, Tegan Allison, and Charles Allison; his sister in law Audrey Prouty; four great-granddaughters, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his beloved fur baby Mackenzie; and his extended "family," the Downers golf group.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Drs. Fleener, Florian, Pocurull, Spenser, Wiggley, Lemos, and the wonderful caregivers at St. Joseph Manor and Hospice Brazos Valley for their dedicated care and attention.
