Samuel M. Moran, Who Came to Kansas in 1854, Dies at Eskridge.

Samuel Marion MORAN, 88, pioneer resident of Auburn, died Sunday afternoon in Eskridge. He was born December 7, 1847, in Saline county, Ill., and came to Kansas in 1854 with his parents, settling near Auburn. He made his home on a farm near Auburn until he moved to Eskridge in 1929. He was a member of the Auburn Congregational church and the last charter member of the Auburn Masonic lodge. The lodge presented him with a 50-year membership about a year ago.

He was married in 1870 to Miss Jennie WALKER who died in 1925. In 1928, he was marred to Mrs. Georgia WALKER. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Lester Moran, Auburn; two brothers, Melvin Moran, Auburn, and James Moran, Topeka; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Auburn Methodist church. The Auburn Masonic lodge will have charge of the burial services at Auburn cemetery. The body will lie in state from Monday evening until Tuesday noon at Penwell's chapel.
