MOLINE — Vivian Holmes Hammerberg, 93, of Moline, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, at First Lutheran Church, 1230 5th Ave., Moline, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Intouch Adult Day Care Center or Augustana College.

Vivian was born Dec. 5, 1920, in Wataga, Ill., the daughter of Arthur and Alfreida J. Peterson Holmes. She married Robert E. Hammerberg Oct. 4, 1952, at the Chapel at Augustana College, and he preceded her in death March 22, 1989.

Vivian attended Knox College, and later, in 1941, received her bachelor's degree in accounting from Augustana College, where she made many lifelong friends. She later became an executive secretary to Deere Estate. Vivian went on to become a homemaker for many years. She finished her career as a trust officer at Moline National Bank.

Vivian was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, and a volunteer and member of the Auxiliary at Trinity Medical Center. She was a former Girl Scouts leader and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include her children, Thomas A. (Betsy) Hammerberg, Cheryl J. Hammerberg, Chris E. (Sue) Hammerberg; son-in-law, David O. Quick; grandchildren, Rob, Katie and Joe Quick, Dan, Charlie and Lizzie Hammerberg, Kayla and Ethan Hammerberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sue Quick; stepson, Rick Hammerberg; and siblings, Kenneth Holmes, Vincent Holmes, DeWayne Holmes and Marie Thomas.
