Johnnie graduated with the class of 1945 (http://www.edmundshigh.com/alumni.html?x=info&c=45) of Edmunds High School, Sumter, S. C. She and her husband, Tom (class of 1946), were my wonderful Aunt & Uncle. Johnnie was living at home until her children transferred her to Solomons retirement home in Sumter this summer. She was doing well (except for macular degeneration chronic eyesight loss & significant hearing loss) until 3 Nov. 2021. Then she had a health event on the 3rd & went to Tuomey Hosp. & transferred to Richland Memorial in Columbia on the 5th. She died at 12:08AM on the 6th. Looking back on my life, I was extremely blessed to have wonderful aunts & uncles on both sides of my family!

Obituary:
Johnnie Husband Brown - a devoted mother to four children, loving grandmother to nine, faithful friend to many, and a joyful Christian light to all - went to be with the Lord, on November 6, 2021, with her family by her side in Columbia, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Thomas E. Brown Sr., and her siblings Maxine White and Sonny Husband.

Johnnie was born on December 8, 1927 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to John D. and Bertie Husband. Johnnie was a long-time member and raised her family at Grace Baptist Church. She poured herself into her family and friends through her devout faith, numerous talents, and servanthood mindset. This model of godliness and family-first mindset has been instilled in not only her children, but in the lives of her grandchildren's families as well. She selflessly volunteered at Tuomey Prisma Health for over 25 years where she was a faithful servant.

Johnnie is survived by her four children: Judy Stern (Jack), Jane Lewis (Tom), Jho Ann Blanding (Wesley), and Thomas E. Brown, Jr. (Lynn); grandchildren: Dr. Amy Nolan-Roney (Brian), Brandi Stern, Wilson Clark (Jessica), Thomas E. Brown, III (Stephanie), Kelly Brown, Stacie Flippin (Donnie), Dr. Edward Thomas Lewis III, M.D. (Jeff), Lacey Stern (James), and Katie Kelly (Jonathan), and 14 great-grandchildren.

Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Johnnie are invited to attend visitation at the home of her daughter, Jho Ann Blanding, 2889 Porcher Dr. from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 2 PM Wednesday in the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Shumake officiating.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sumter United Ministries at PO Box 1017, Sumter, SC 29151.

FUNERAL: Though we are still in the covid-19 viral pandemic of 2020, the 2PM on 11/10/2021 graveside ceremony had at least 50 attendees. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the temperature was perfect. Harpist= was Kipper Ackerman & she did a beautiful job. Rev. Steve Shumake was the pastor. The 23rd Psalm was read; there was an opening prayer. "What a Wonderful World" was sung, and a beautiful telling of Family Remarks was done by granddaughter, Kelly Stern Brown. This was followed by a message by the pastor. Then all sang "Amazing Grace". The pastor then gave the benediction.
