Mrs. Nellie Ruth Deitrick Cornwell Lawrence, age 96, died December 24, 2006 at Savannah Court Assisted Living Center in Newnan, Georgia.

Mrs Lawrence was born June 7, 1910 in Short Pump, Va., one of seven children of the marriage of Claudius Perry and Nellie Cocke Deitrick. She was married to Jerry Aubrey Cornwell Sr., who was the father of her two sons.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edith Deitrick, Effie Hall, and Raymond Deitrick. She was later married to Thomas Patrick Lawrence, who also preceded her in death. Together they owned and operated Win-Dor, Inc. in Richmond, Va. before their retirement.

She was a member of Kilmarnock Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Aubrey Cornwell Jr. of Richmond, Coles Point or White Stone, Va. and Cecil Cornwell and his wife, Maxine of Newnan, Ga. There are three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. One brother survives, Jacob Deitrick of Short Pump, Va.; as well as two sisters, Mary Goode of Moseley, Va. and Merritt Island, Fla. and Hilda Arlington Howard of Sebring, Fla.
