He retired in 1971 from the U.S. Army with 28 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Fu-neral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Religious service at First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Chris H. Andrews. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Guy of Oakland, Md., and Emily Cannon of Salt Lake City; a son and daughter-in-law, Don III and Cindy Cannon of Baton Rouge; a sister and brother-in-law, Carmen and Francis Foret of New Orleans; and three grandchildren, David Cuddington, Joanna Guy and Sara Jewel Cannon. Preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Minchew Cannon; parents, Don and Minnie Lee Odom Cannon; a brother, Carl Cannon; and a sister, Nathalie Lee. He was a member of St. James Lodge 47, F&AM, and a volunteer at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.
