Mrs. Lillie O. Porter, age 84, of Rome St., Carrollton, Ga., passed Wednesday, February 14, 2007. She was born September 14, 1922 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late Eugenia Webb Kidd and the late Harmon Kidd. Mrs. Porter was homemaker and also had worked for Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lamon G. Porter; her sisters, Ethel Helton and Frances Kidd; two brothers, Preston Kidd and William Kidd. Survivors include her children and their spouses Jerry & Mable Porter of Augusta, Jean P. Stamps of Muscadine, AL., Lamon G.(Mack) Porter of Wedowee, Al., Joan & Bruce Wingo of Rome, Ga., and Robbie L. & Carrie Porter of Carrollton; a sister and brother in-law, Cleo K. & Cecil W. (Pat) Porter; a sister in-law, Sara Nell Kidd; also 16 grand children and 26 great grand children. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 3:30 PM from Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating. Pall bearers will be Marty Stamps, Tim Porter, Christopher Porter, Mark Smith, Jeremy Mashburn and Pete Warner. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4 until 7 PM and Sunday from 12 until 2:30 PM. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
