Born in Madison, Wis. to Victor and Mildred Riley, passed away at his sister's home. He was a graduate of East High School and the University of Wisconsin. Vic was an avid sports fan and bowler who bowled a 300 game in the 1950s. He also walked six miles a day, six days a week, until his health failed. After graduating from the UW-Madison, Victor pursued a career in finance and lived a good deal of his adult life in Rocky River, Ohio, moving back to Madison in March 2014.
