Lula Elizabeth Richter “Memo”, 93, passed away on October 2, 2017 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born on March 21, 1924 to Will and Lizzie Nord. On August 19, 1944, Lula married Gus Henry Richter, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was a member of Zion Lutheran for 72 years. She remained active in her church and loved sending cards of prayer and encouragement to those in need. Lula worked at Southwestern University for over 30 years and retired in 1989. She enjoyed gardening, canning her own pickles and hot sauce, crossword puzzles, crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, and making doilies for church donations.

She was preceded in death by 18 siblings. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Mamie Ruth Richter of Georgetown and Dehlia Nord of Austin. Lula is survived by daughter Sandra Taylor and husband Ben of Bertram and son Kenneth Richter and wife Cindy of Weir. She is survived by her grandchildren Mike Taylor and wife Jennifer of Granbury, Lisa Goertz and husband Brian of Bertram, and Audrey Schirmer and husband Chris of Georgetown, as well as four great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, October 4, from 5-7 PM at The Gabriels Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Lula’s Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg with burial immediately following at Zion Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Fund. Lula and her husband Gus cared for this cemetery for many years.

Pallbearers are: Landon Schwausch, David Nord, Mike Keller, Glenn Richter, James Hall, and Gary Miller. Honorary Pallbearers and good friends of Lula are: Gladys Doerfler and Tillie Kurio.
