1931 - 2014

Lauren W. Smith, 83 yrs, of Rossford, OH, formerly of LaSalle, died Monday, June 30 at his residence. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Thursday, from 11 AM-8 PM. He will lie in state at Morocco United Brethren Church, Temperance, Friday from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Pastor Todd Greenman will officiate. Burial will be in Erie Union Cemetery, Erie.

Born March 10, 1931, in LaSalle, MI. Lauren was the son of Russell and Dorothy (Budlong) Smith. He was an Ida High School graduate and served in the US Army Reserve. He married Charlotte R. Swan in 1956 in Monroe, MI. Charlotte died September 29, 2005. He was a Pipefitter Plumber, Local 1435 for Chrysler working in the Jeep/Perrysburg plants for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He loved to travel, fix cars and was an inventor.

Survivors include: four sons; Glenn (Beth), Edwin (Suzan), Michael (Pamela), Brian (Wannapha); three daughters Anita Smith, Sandra Smith, Laura (Diane Collum) Smith; five brothers, Herb, Carl (Kay), Rev. Keith (Dorothy), Lawrence (Elona), Wayne; a sister, Faye Henry; sixteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte, a brother, Harold and infant twins.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Smith may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
