NUTTER FORT — Willie R. "Bill" Jacobs, 77, of Hepzibah, WV, passed away at the Heritage Nursing Home on Sunday, June 29, 2014, following a brief illness.
He was born in McWhorter, WV, on October 1, 1936, a son of the late Willie Ray Jacobs, Sr. and Janie Ersley Dean Jacobs.
He is survived by two sisters, Eva DeWitt of Spelter, WV, and Betty DeMali of Rootstown, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rosella Deal; two brothers, Eugene and Robert Jacobs; and one niece, Karen DeMali.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Randolph and was discharged on February 19, 1959. He was a Baptist by faith, an avid golfer and also loved camping, auctions and gardening. He had many friends and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the WV National Cemetery, Grafton, WV with the Reverend Delmas Murphy presiding, with full military graveside rites accorded.
