Elizabeth "Betty" Schaller, 84, of New Hampton, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton, Iowa.

Elizabeth was born on June 4, 1930, in Stetsonville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Alma (Perlick) Nuernberger. She graduated from Medford High School in 1948. She received her Evangelical Teacher Training Association from Moody Bible Institute in 1953 and her Bachelor of Arts in teaching from Upper Iowa University in Fayette in 1988. She was united in marriage to Edward A. Schaller on August 14, 1953, at the Goodrich Baptist Church in Goodrich, Wisconsin. They were married for 47 years before Edward's death in 2001. She resided in Chicago, Illinois and the Iowa communities of Dubuque, Cresco, Audubon-Ross, What Cheer, Guthrie Center, Anthon, Coggon, Fredericksburg, Sumner, Waverly, and later New Hampton.

Growing up on the farm in Wisconsin she learned a strong work ethic, which she carried with her throughout her life. Married to a United Methodist minister, she served with him as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, U.M.W. circles and choir. She worked in the public school systems and retired from Walmart in 2000. She loved her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, gardening, sewing, and serving the Lord. Elizabeth was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Waverly.

Elizabeth is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca (Jonny) Moore of Mechanicsville, Iowa; Deborah (Richard) Otto of Dayton, Minnesota; and Ruth (Rick) Breitbach of New Hampton, Iowa; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Eleanor Mikul, her brother, Armand Nuernberger, and her husband Edward.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly with Pastor Candie Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family's designation.
