Liz Pulley Hughes, 72, of Winder lost her battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2014.
She was born in Jefferson City, TN and with her family moved to Norcross in 1956. She graduated 3rd in her class from West Gwinnett High School in 1960.
Liz had been a member of The Norcross Chapter #426 Order of the Eastern Star and she served as Worthy Grand Matron in 2004 -2005. As a teenager she was active in The International Order of Rainbow for Girls.
She enjoyed participating in amateur theater and later developed a "Minnie Pearl" routine and performed it for several years.
She was a longtime member of Amaranth, Inc., Theta Sorority, Daughters of the Nile, and served as High Priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Buford.
She is survived by sons, Brett, Bart and daughter-in-law, Melissa; grandsons, Charlie and Drew; brother, Elliott "Tiny" Pulley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Hughes, her parents, Calvin and Beulah Pulley and her brother, Donald Wayne Pulley.
