FINAL RITES HELD FOR BYRD HANDLEY
Byrd Owens Handley, longtime Yamhill county resident and farm leader, passed away at his home south of McMinnville on Saturday, November 25. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Methodist church here with the Rev. C.H. Schrieber and the Rev. B. Earle Parker reading the service.
Born in Amity, June 29, 1881, he was 69 years old at death. He was the son of John B. and Ellen Owens Handley. Mr. Handley married Bessie Blanche Cone, November 21, 1906. She survives him. Other survivors include a son, Jack Pike of San Francisco; a brother, Earnest J., McMinnville; and two grandchildren, Kenneth and Barbara Pike, of San Francisco.
Mr. Handley was a member of McCabe Methodist church and the I.O.O.F. Graveside services at the South Yamhill cemetery were under the direction of the McMinnville lodge, I.O.O.F.
