SUMTER - Helen Williford Folley, 85, widow of Louis Bates Folley, died Monday, November 24, 2003, in Covenant Place.
Born in Norfolk, Va., August 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Ivy Arthur Williford and the late Fare Clemmer Williford. Mrs. Folley attended Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. She was a career teacher for over 20 years at St. Anne's School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Junior Welfare League, the Cotillion Club, the Book Club and the Bridge Club.
Surviving are two sons, Louis Bates Folley Jr. and wife, Martha, of Augusta, Ga., and John Arthur "Jack" Folley and wife, Cindy, of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, James Ivy Williford of Gainesville, Fla., and John F. Williford of Salisbury, N.C.; four grandchildren, Paige Folley Christian of Savannah, Ga., Todd Bates Folley and Victoria Nelson Folley, both of Augusta, Ga., and John Arthur Folley Jr. of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert M. Williford and Arthur J. Williford.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Edward McLeod officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory.
