Frank Wilcox CADIZ, Ky. Memorial services for Frank Hurst Wilcox, retired U.S. Air Force colonel, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cadiz Christian Church. Dr. Tom Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Mr. Wilcox, a native of Paris, died Monday at his home in Cadiz. He was 81. Mr. Wilcox was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and was the first Distinguished ROTC graduate and first cadet lieutenant colonel of the ROTC at EKU. He served in Europe during World War II and following the war graduated from the University of Denver Law School. He served as a legislative counsel in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force in Washington, D.C, working with the Armed Services Committees during the Korean War. Mr. Wilcox commanded Air Rescue Forces in Europe; the Air Force Navigation School at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas; and graduated from The National War College in Washin-ton, D.C. During the Vietnam War, he commanded the Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon and flew numerous combat missions. Following the war, he served as Chief of the Air Force War Plans Division and on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He retired from the Air Force with combat disability from Vietnam. Mr, Wilcox was awarded numerous service medals and decorations including the Bronze Star. In 1970, Mr: Wilcox returned to Trigg County, where he practiced law and was appointed master commissioner in 1992. He was a member of the board of the Cadiz Christian Church. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Helen Dorris Wilcox; two daughters, Dorris W. McCarthy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Frances W. Chenoweth of Saluda, Va,; one son, Donald Pierce Wilcox of Austin, Texas; one brother, Charles Eugene Wilcox of Holiday Island, Ark.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His parents were Frank Hurst Wilcox Sr. and Mary Marguerite Chisholm Wilcox. There will be no visitation. Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz is in charge of arrangements.
