Wanda Lee Ford, longtime resident of Ponca City, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Ponca City Medical Center. She was 62. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Elder Toby A. Blackstar co-pastor of St. James A.M.E. in Park City, Kan., officiating. Casket bearers will be Ryan Ford, Terry Ford, Donnie Lockhart, Donald Miller, Clifford Carter Jerry Nichols, and Steve Ingmire. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory. Wanda was born Aug. 29, 1951 in Higgins, Texas the daughter of Carl Frederick Ford and Evelyn Charlotte Ford. She spent her younger years in Guymon, where she enjoyed making mud pies and trying to persuade her siblings to eat them. She eventually moved to Ponca City around 1977, where she was employed at Jack Bowker Ford for a time. In 1978, she met her best friend and partner for life, Cathy Ingmire. Wanda enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and watching her favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. She loved to fish, ride four wheelers and was always there to come to the rescue when needed by her loved ones. Numerous times she would assist with freeing a stuck vehicle or changing a tire. Wanda worked hard all her life, eventually retiring in 2008, after which she spent time with her dogs and family. Wanda was devoted to her family her dogs, and her friends and was much loved. She will be deeply missed. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Evelyn. She is survived by longtime partner of 37 years Cathy; daughter, Sheri Ford and husband Donald Miller, of Ponca City; grandsons, Ryan Ford of the home, and Nakota and Markas Miller; brothers, Billy Ray Ford, of Tulsa; Carl Frederick Ford, of Ponca City; Terry Ford, of Texas; sisters, Betty Ann Ford, of Ponca City; Roxie Johnson, of Cullman, Ala.; her little man, great-grandson Troy Gene Ford, of Seminole and numerous nieces and nephews. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13.
