Mr. Maynard was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Army and Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36, Ludlow and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 771 in Springfield, Vt. Joseph had worked for 30 years as a machinist at General Electric in Ludlow and Rutland.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Shirley (Moot) Maynard.
He is survived by his son Joseph Maynard, Jr. of Cornish Flat, N.H., his daughter Vicki Polidor of North Dakota. Joe is also survived by his longtime companion, Helen R. Kennett of Perkinsville, and her children; Donald and Vicki Hood of Claremont, N.H., Ronald Kennett and Linda Johnston of Hartland, Vt., Michael and Tamra Howe of Windsor, Vt., and their children; four grandchildren, Raquel, Brittany, Bethany, and Alexandria; and three great-grandchildren, Molly, Rory, and Deagan.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday July 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Pleasant View Cemetery, Ludlow. Officiating will be the Rev. Father Romanus Igweonu, Pastor of the Church of the Annunciation, Ludlow. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post #36, Ludlow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495
Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home, Ludlow.
