I believe, but cannot prove thru records, that this was an infant son born to Janet Olive Shurtz (Lumbard) & her husband Lucian Lumbard. Lucian and Janet were living with their children in Chicago, Illinois at the time of Joseph's death. I believe that they chose this cemetery to bury Joseph in because it is the cemetery where Janet's parents, paternal grandfather, and many of her siblings and extended family are buried. According to the burial records at Forest Cemetery, the un-recorded purchasers of the plot where Joseph is buried bought a 34 foot burial area, so I would assume that Lucian and Janet bought this area for the future burial of themselves and their children. According to Findagrave.com Joseph is the only Lumbard buried at Forest Cemetery.

Joseph was probably stillborn as there is no funeral home listed, according to the burial records at Forest Cemetery. He was buried on 12 May 1885 so I am making a guess as to his birth date and death date being the same day, which I chose as the day prior to burial.

I can find no records on any Joseph Lumbard that might fit who this person could be other than the child of Lucian and Janet. If anyone has any other information that might help me, please contact me. So as of right now I will say that Joseph Lumbard is:

Son of:

LUCIAN LUMBARD, Born 6 Dec 1841 in Pomfret, Windham Co., Connecticut; died 10 May 1901 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California; buried at Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California; married Janet Olive Shurtz on 23 Oct 1879 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan

&

JANET OLIVE 'JENNIE' SHURTZ (LUMBARD), Born 1 May 1855 in Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio; died 10 July 1938 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California; buried at Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California
