JONATHAN PROTHERO DEAD

Very impressive funeral serviced were held here yesterday for Jonathan Prothero who died on the 26 inst. at the age of 79 years. Prayer was offered by L.N. Marsden of Parowan. The speakers were Richard Robinson, Charles Adams, Wm. Edwards, George topoham, Andrew Corry, Edward Palmer and William P. Barton, all of whom spoke of "Uncle" Jonathan as being a good man, ready and willing at any time to do all he could for the upbuilding of his country. Bro. Hickman sang "Face to Face".
Amasa Stones rendered a beautiful cornet solo, "A Perfect Day", accompanied by Morgan Edwards on the violin and Mrs. Anita McBride at the piano. Uncle Jonathan came to this country from Wales when about twelve years of age, and indured all the hardships incident to pioneer life. He was one of the first settlers here in Paragonah, and took an active part in helping fight the Indians so that this place would be safe for people to make homes in.

He is survived by the following children; Mrs. Maggie Jones, Mrs Mary Robb, John David and Stanley, all residing in Paragonah. His sisters living are Mrs. Susie Stones, Mrs Sydia Dunton and Mrs. Alice Herbert.
