Colton Services Today – Insurance Man Stricken While Visiting Salem.

Native of Bay State Resident of Portland 43 Years and Active in Civic Lines.

The funeral service for Hubert G. Colton, 69, who died suddenly December 15 in Salem, Or., will be held at 2 P.M. today in the chapel of Holman & Lutz, East Fourteenth street and Sandy boulevard.

Honorary ball bearers will be Charles W. King, Ralph Lee, Richard Martin Jr., Frank King, Judge Louis P. Hewitt, D. A. Shindler, Judge Clarence Gilbert, A. H. Harding, Judge Wallace McCamant, Jonas Friedenthal and Theodore Burkhart. Active pall bearers will be F. C. Little, S. G. Smith, E. W. Silcher, A. S. Pattullo, J. H. Rankin and J. L. Bowlby.

Mr. Colton had been a resident of Portland for 43 years and had been connected with the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance company practically ever since he came to Portland, starting with them October 15, 1869, as a salesman. He was appointed general agent of this company for Oregon in 1896, and held this position until the time of his death.

Miss Genevieve George of Portland became his bride December 13, 1892. She survives him as do Mrs. Gretchen Ruedy and George T. Colton, his daughter and son.

Mr. Colton was a charter member of the Portland Golf club. Since his youth—he was the son of a Congregational church, and was a member of First church here. He was born in Monson, Mass.

Mr. Colton's death was the result of a heart attack with which he was stricken while walking along the street in Salem where he had gone on a business trip last Thursday.
