PHILLIP EVINGTON JR 1928-2001
Phillip F. Evington Jr., a resident of Henryetta, passed away at his home in Henryetta on Monday, March 5, 2001, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, 2 days. He was born Wednesday, October 3, 1928, in Henryetta to Phillip F. Evington Sr. and Hazel Ray Evington.
Mr. Evington married Curlera Potts on August 25, 1947, in Okmulgee.
Mr. Evington was a box maker with P.P.G. Industries for 32 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the Navy aboard the USS LST 896, and the USS EURY ALE. He received a Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon.
Proceeding him in death were his parents, Phillip Sr. and Hazel Evington.
Survivors include his wife, Curlera Evington of the home; one son, Phillip Wayne Evington of Moore, one daughter, Charlotte Johnson of Durant; one sister, Nancy Chancey of Cypress, Texas; four grandchildren, Hilary Haworth of Norman; Eric Byron of Tuttle; Tammy Evington of Warr Acres and Karen Evington of Moore; two great-grandchildren, Nakom and Chase Haworth, both of Norman.
Services will be held at Shurden Funeral Hom Chapel on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at 2 p.m. officiated by Vance Smith. Burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.
