Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Steve M. Maximovich, 80, of Massillon, passed from this life into eternal glory resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Amherst Meadows Nursing Home in Massillon, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Sunday, Aug. 2, 1925, in Akron, Ohio, living in Massillon since 1974. He was employed by Preston Trucking Co. as a truck driver, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church; 3rd Degree, Knights of Columbus 554; Bishop Massillon Assembly of the 4th Degree, St. Mary's choir member for 16 years, and volunteered at the hot-lunch program at the K of C.

Steve served in the Army during World War II as an M.P.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Norma Maximovich; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Mike Allison; son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Barb Maximovich; daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Alex Andrus; son, Jeff Maximovich; son and daughter-in-law, John and Caroline Maximovich; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Jessica Maximovich; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mark Coleman; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kristi Maximovich; six brothers, Tom, Nick, Frank, Mike, Joe, and Pat Maximovich; three sisters, Mary, Josephine, and Sister Germaine; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Josephine (Salzwimmer) Maximovich; son, Stevie Maximovich; brother, Alex Maximovich; sister, Julie Meek; granddaughter, Danielle Maximovich.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, April 10, 2006, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Edward Gretchko, celebrant. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon.
