Francis T. Pickens, 88, of Jolly, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014.
There will be a family visitation tonight, Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel from 7:00PM-8:00PM. Memorial services will be at 3:00PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Jolly Baptist Church in Jolly, Texas.
Mr. Pickens was born on September 18, 1925 in Weaverville, North Carolina to Francis T. and Anna Ruth (Ray) Pickens II. He married Juanita Pearl (Crews) on March 16, 1951 and they were married for 50 years. Mr. Pickens received his Electronics Degree from Auburn University and was retired from General Dynamics where he worked as an Electronics Engineer. He served his country in the US Navy. He was a Deacon at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, a member of the Gideon Association and the Amateur Radio Operator WSRCR.
Mr. Pickens was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Pickens; one grandson, Jeffrey Tipton.
Survivors include his son Wesley Pickens and wife Vickie of Jolly, Texas; daughter Beverly Diane Tipton and husband Don of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Dr. Chris Tipton and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa Michelle Nix and husband Michael of Jolly, Texas, and Brandon Pickens of Jolly, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Maleigh and Wyatt Nix of Jolly, Texas; sister, Clema Wilson; brother Ray Pickens.
