Mr. Denver Lee Smith of Florence, KY. passed away Sunday, June 29 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence at the age of 82. Mr. Smith, better known as "Mann" to family and friends was born January 20, 1932 in Owen County, KY. to the late Dallas Denver Smith and Iva Barber Smith. Mr. Smith retired from Roadway Express as a truck driver with 32 years of service. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and at the time of his passing was a long time member of the Florence United Methodist Church. Mr. Smith was a member of the Teamsters Local 100 and enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets, watching University of Kentucky basketball games and the Cincinnati Reds. For many years Mr. Smith displayed a 1950 Oldsmobile at various car shows winning many trophies with the car. He will be fondly remembered for his love of talking and visiting with others.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister: Freda Parr.

Mr. Smith leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 59 years: Wilma Nicholson Smith. 1 son: Gary Lee (Debbie) Smith of Erlanger, KY., 2 daughters: Marilyn (Patrick) Helmer of Verona, KY. and Denise Smith of Florence, KY., 1 sister: Mary "Sis" Mastin of Norwood, OH., 1 brother: Danny Joe Smith of Milford, OH. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth with Rev. Mark Dickinson officiating. Visitation will be there on Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the New Columbus Cemetery, Owen County.

Memorials are suggested to the Florence United Methodist Church or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
