Funeral services for Dale W. Ramsey will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton, Missouri. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton, following military graveside services. A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at the funeral home. Mr. Ramsey, an 88-year-old resident of Leisure Lake, west of Trenton, died on Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, 2009 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

Mr. Ramsey was born July 21, 1921 in Latimer, IA, the son of Milton and Elsie Whitten Ramsey. He graduated from Belmond High School in Belmond, IA. He lived in Des Moines, IA and Dows, IA, where he operated a grocery store. He also was an independent truck driver for Steele Haulers and operated Ramsey's Restaurant at Leisure Lake before retiring. He married Mary Jo Salisbury at Clarion, IA on March 6, 1943. She preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 1990. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Voyna and husband, Marvin, of Conyers, GA; one son, Richard Ramsey and his wife, Denice of Leisure Lake; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; seven sisters, Leona Klemensen, Mae Linaweaver, Dorothy Jacobson, Alama Crosser, Frances Lewis, LaVonne Churchill and Beulah Thompson; and two brothers, Alvin Ramsey and Dan Ramsey. Memorials are suggested to the Dale W. Ramsey Memorial Fund and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
