Horace J. Hogan , 85, of 404 Osceola Road, Lakeland, died Saturday at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Baldwinsville, Mr. Hogan had lived in Lakeland for 34 years. He retired from Crucible Steel and also was a former mechanic for the Syracuse Transit Co.
A communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Lakeland, he was a member of its Holy Name Society. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Tanner Hose Division of the Solvay Fire Department from 1946 to 1959. He was a World War II Navy veteran of the amphibious unit of the Pacific fleet.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Weslowsky; a daughter, Diane Nowak of Syracuse ; a brother, Edward of Fairmount; a sister, Anne Belle Hogan of Syracuse ; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Peace Church, Lakeland. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Warner.
