Geneva was born to Lavada Duncan in Oklahoma. Lavada's husband at the time was Adolphus Anderson Screws. Lavada is listed on the Dawes Rolls as Lavada Screwes (spelled incorrectly). She signed her papers with "her mark". Adolphus, sometime after the 1920 census, entered the Eastern Oklahoma Hospital for the Insane, voluntarily or involuntarily. I do not know for sure if Dolph Screws is actually Geneva's father. Some of Lavada's children then began appearing in various places with her maiden name of Duncan.

Lavada can be found in 1930 Seminole, Seminole County, Oklahoma with a new husband, Roy Dotson, who was born the same year as Lavada's oldest daughter Linnie. Daughter Geneva is listed as Geneva Duncan and is 10. Lavada herself, despite her various ages in the censuses, was born 24 April 1887 in Alabama to James D. Duncan and Elizabeth H. King according to her Dawes papers.

In 1940, Geneva (now Geneva Gullett) is 20 and living in Winkler County, Texas with her mother, Lavada Dotson, who is now widowed. Geneva's husband, O.B. Gullett, is still living with his parents, William and Josie(Funderburk) Gullet in Kermit, Texas. He is listed as single. Lavada is listed as a night club owner and Geneva is a night club waitress.

Ruth Geneva is buried next to her husband O.B. Gullett and her mother "Jimmie" Lavada Dotson.

Joe H. Duncan #148234792
