SMITH, JOHN WESLEY Age 71 of Brighton passed away at his home in the care of his children following a sudden diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He was born June 30, 1942 in Romulus the son of Garland and Helen (Miller) Smith. On June 2, 1962 he married Sandra Heller in Westland, MI. He was a member of Team Bop, as well as president of Brighton Bowl Wednesday night league for over 20 years. Mr. Smith was also a little league coach for his son *** for several years. While coaching McLaren Oil his team took 1st place and it was a very proud moment for him and his team. He also attended a monthly poker game for years, with a group of wonderful people that he thought the world of. Prior to his retirement in 1999 he had been employed by Chevy Spring and Bumper for 36 years. John is survived by his wife ***, [four] children: ***, [eight} grandchildren: *** [two] great grandchildren: ***, two brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at Keehn Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
