Patricia Mary Burns, 55, of rural Manchester died at home Sunday, June 29, 2008.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 Thursday, July 3, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty . Family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008 where there will be a 3:00 p.m. Scripture Service at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester; and for one hour before Mass on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
Patricia was born May 17, 1953 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas E. & Joan V. (Herbers) Dunkel. Pat attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from West Delaware High School in 1971. Following graduation, she attended Kirkwood College and worked for Dr. Robert Galiher as a Dental Assistant, later on working at Exide Batteries, and Monona Wire. On April 5, 1975, Pat was united in marriage to Jerry Lynn Burns at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manchester.
Pat was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed quilting, collecting teddy bears, gardening and farming with her husband. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and wife, loving to spend time with her granddaughter, Mia, and her nieces and nephews.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jerry Lynn Burns of Manchester; her parents, Nicholas and Joan Dunkel of Manchester, one son, James Burns of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Ries of Ryan, and Jane (Christopher) Gersitz of Katy, TX; one granddaughter, Mia Gersitz; three sisters, Beth (Jim) Westpfahl of Sergeant Bluff, Sandy Bunce of Anamosa, Denise (Kevin) Dirth of Muscatine, two brothers, Brian (Colleen) Dunkel, of Barrington, IL, Neal (Karrie) Dunkel of Manchester; and two brothers-in-laws, Don (Agnes) Burns of Davenport, and Ken (Janet) Burns of Manchester.
