He and Dorothy Elizabeth Maxwell (nee Small) only had 1 child, Claudia. He married while on a weekend and 3 day pass from Fort Campbell, Kentucky/Tennessee. Buck was in the Army from November 1942 to February 12, 1946.
Buck helped build the bridge over the Big River at Belgrade and Cedar Creek and Lost Creek, Missouri hauling gravel.
Buck also worked for the Champ Spring Company from August 1936 to December 1939. Buck went to high school for 3 years at Belgrade High School before going to Irondale High School, Missouri.
