LaFoye Johnston Paola McCarty Burkhalter, age 88, passed away on June 29, 2014 in Natchitoches, LA after a lengthy illness.

"Precious", as she was affectionately known, was born in Winnsboro, LA, and lived in Monroe for many years before relocating to Natchitoches to be near her daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents J.A. and Mary Johnston, her sister Ernestine Ellerman, and husbands Nunzio D. Paola, Delton McCarty, and D.F. Burkhalter, Jr.

She is survived by her three daughters, Pam Smith (Clif) and Maureen McCarty (Kelly Gray)of Natchitoches, Chris Heilman (Bill) of Savannah, GA, two step-daughters Joan Best (Jeff) of Little Rock, AR, Sue Bowers (Don) of Baton Rouge, LA, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Blanchard St. Denis in Natchitoches From 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. A graveside service will be at 10 am on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA. Honorary pallbearers are Hugh Smith, Melissa Russell, Gregory Smith, Brandi Pruitt, Colin Miller, Corey Heilman, Lynn Bourque, and Mac Ryals.
